A very human-centric perspective; mind you, I have been there

Snail

Oh, why does a snail

         have a shell?

It only serves to tell me,

        when I tread,

that what was crunched

        is now dead,

and that is what I dread.

Love this one, Fear the crunch. I was wondering,
Is a slug a homeless snail?

Smashing! (Sorry.) Reminiscent of Ogden Nash, and other masters of spirited verse!
