Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of information available about this Ojibwe poet from Manitoba, Canada.  But we were moved by her powerful slam poem for it tells the harsh reality of way too many people of the First Nations of Canada.  The history of systemic racism and horrendous abuses they've been subjected to for generations has had, and continues to have, grave consequences.  It's a truth which should not be kept quiet, and Mary Black isn't keeping it quiet... any longer.
