Me and Elaine used to go to Blackpool were we were told of a place that looked after terminaly ill children, so I wrote this one in 2003 and I will put the song on youtube with a link here

In A Place

The angels send from a rainbows end
A wish we always wanted to come true
A light shone down which turned to a golden crown
One that was made especially for you

In a place where funs to be found
Where Santa stays the whole year round

As time moved on we find the light that shone
Was given to us only on loan
Who knows the day when you have to go away
If only this time we could postpone

A line is drawn on every shore
Where land is gone and is no more
Although out of sight you know it’s there
Just like the love we’ll always share

In a place where funs to be found
Where Santa stays the whole year round

After the fun when the sea hides the sun
We’ll rest our heads and get some much needed sleep
Safe and warm we’re sheltered from the storm
Loving memories of this time we will always keep.

In a place where funs to be found
Where Santa stays the whole year round

Before reading your preface I was going to remark about your charming poem that it would make an excellent set of lyrics for a song... and then I see that is exactly what you are planning. I await the YouTube URL with great interest. :)
