this item announces a forum matter concerning the ethics of Multi posting

Forum item posted on the ethics of Multi posting by M.A.Meddings

I have, this morning posted a forum matter concerning the ethics of multi posting.

I would welcome others members views

My arguments are made adequately in the forum pages under dscussions how come

but in general I make the point that the practice of posting multi postings onany single occasion is ethically not fair.

In as much that it takes the opportunity for other poets with less to post the chance of a fair coverage on the higher profile front page.

I believe there is a case for restricting the number of posts per day for any one member to a maximum of three and a weekly maximum of ten in that way everyone gets fair coverage

It is a rule that applies on many sites I write on and I believe some sort of voluntary system is appropriate here

I name no names, and I do not hide behind any one else in this view

but I intend to set the 'cat amongst the pidgeons' and hope for a response

I agree with you, but for other reasons. I joined several sites where the front door is like a bulletin board - everything posted that day runs down the front page, rather like here. Other sites only put the last poem posted by your "favorites" on your front page, placing all the posted poems in another area.
Over time I've learned one simple fact - the more you post at one time, the fewer the comments you will get on each one, because no one is going to read ALL your poems you have posted in one day (unless they are a good friend or loved one).
Another point is that if you post the same poem on lots of sites, you will get altogether fewer reads because let's face it - the comments are coming from other poets, who may be on many of the same sites. They'll skip over titles they have read elsewhere.
The newbie always gets attention, but after that you have to give it to get it!

Very interesting and informative post.

I agree....I usually miss the others' poems and the frontpage is taken up by like one person/group .. Its pretty disconcerting. A limit of upto 2 to 3 poems per person per day should be enough, I think.

Well, there are many ways of expressing your self,
Some like to use few but heavily loaded with meaning, words,
Some like to yak away at top speed, whether any one listens to them or not.
Some like to use such difficult words, that
Without a dictionary they cannot be undrestood at all.
And some, and this the kind we are talking of,
Are suffering from indigestion of sorts,
Probably they have seasickness?
Because the moment they land on the bay
They vomit all their poems out, here on the bay...
Because it is free for all!
As if it is a purgatory of sorts?
But they should remember,
Every body runs away from them,
Because they reek of self importance, most of all...
So, dear friends, post, but at your own risk
Cause, there is very much a chance that yoou won't be read at all...

**Hugs Mike, this is my take on the issue**

Needles to say, I AGREE WITH YOU!

Your point is a good one and so very true. I am tempted not read those of whom many poems are posted at one time in protest. Please lets be fair to all. Thanks for the reminder. Kathy

Hi LRH,

When I joined Poetbay, I think that I was told that one of the rules was to post no more than 10 times a week. Does anyone else remember this rule? or am I wrong?
