In military speak "to have somebody's Six" is to cover them from unexpected fire or danger. It refers to the six o'clock position. Behind them.

A Lover’s “Six”

It’s so good to know you have

Someone there to lean upon

To feel a calming protective wave

Of love as bright as cardamom

To be allowed to rest to yield

To tarry now in soft repose

In search for elusive Elysian field

Away from angry fortune’s blows

Strength assured is shared between

Those who love without regard

For cost save that the other’s being

Is raison d’être for their life’s disregard

It's always good to have a rear gunner and in thus having we are by virtue of such arrangement we have also become their "six" however involuntarily or otherwise. Awesome life concept, owing to the military jargon and practise.

'Those who love without regard' such good lines Joseph. I thought this poem summed up so much of how I my own love one is always at the six o'clock position for me.
