Breaking a year-long dry spell with this one!

Flutter

My heart is learning to flutter again
Not like a baby bird tip-toeing out of the nest for the first time
But like an eagle whose wings have been clipped.

It's learning what to say no to
And how.

It's learning the difference between non-negotiables
And good-to-haves.

It's scrolling with purpose
And swiping intentionally.

It's not soaring yet,
But getting there.

I have the patience of a mama bird
Who knows better.

Love the bird imagery! This poem reminds me of much of Maya Angelou's words.
