Been So Long

been so long & it seems so funny
been so long since the dewdrop fall
been so long since i spent that money
been so long since your midnight call

so many years since i drove to austin
so many miles beneath those wheels
so many times have i got lost in
dazzlin' things my wild heart feels

been so long since your ten-page letter
been so long since my painful tears
been so long but i'm not much better
O the hard slow passin' of all those years

hope you're healthy & hope you're smilin'
hope you're in a real good place
so happy i could bask a while in
the warm bright glow of your shinin' face

Son, you belong in Nashville. Great fun, Thomas.

The sad story being told notwithstanding, this poem is very fun to read out loud. I love the sing-songy tone. Cheers
