Found the first half of this poem in drafts and completed it based a discussion we had at one of my recent poetry meets.
She steps on stage,
with Santa and his eight other reindeer
Curtains fall, applause,
the cast shares champagne,
Dizzy on the way home,
but stay in your lane dear!
Stumbling for keys,
help please!
Granny in lift asks,
What’s your name,dear?
Mrs or miss?
Unmarried?
‘What a shame, dear!’
At her mirror she tells herself,
Turn that frown upside down,
Don’t be mundane!
Better sparkle in your fifteen minutes of fame
Reflection replies
Why play the game?
What if I want to be mundane?
What if I can’t choose either lane?
Too late!
She’s passed out on the floor in vain.

Dear girl
Bunny ears, fishnet stockings and a pompom for a tailShe steps on stage,
