Huddled Masses
I'm inside, like billions of others, cowering from the savage heat.
There are empty sidewalks all over the planet. Parks without pools
Are so silent as graveyards. People are bowling. They've gone to
The movies, even when there's nothing good to see.
All other things being equal, I much prefer to be outside. My mind
Seems to work better when it's not confined by ceilings and floors
And walls. Alas, for now, all things are not equal. The sun's intense.
The air's grown quite humid. I slipped out early to mow the lawn,
And lolled for an hour inside the pool, but, finally, I had to come
Inside, as billions of others have done.
