Shattered

I shattered into a thousand blades of light,
bleeding into reality.
No one heard my silence,
So I sharpened it with suffocated screams of anguish.
With each passing day,
every breath becomes a splinter,
cutting through the fabric of my being.

Every glance is a searing flame,
carrying the heat of countless battles lost,
battles I long to erase from memory.
But no matter how hard I fight,
The intrusive thoughts return,
and I break into softness
(I break into tears)

I wear calm like a muzzle,
desperately running to stand still.
But the howling wind rages beneath and
behind a tearful, stormy sky that tore me open
(after decades of holding back)

Buried under poisonous pills,
relieving my mind?

(That won't allow me to be myself)

Tell me,

What's more violent:

A scream in the dark,
Or a lifetime of being unseen?:

...A slow death in infinite agony.
