Cause for Celebration

I still need to have our downspout replaced,
Still ought to mow the lawn, and the weather's
Not great.  It's been unusually cool.  I heard
A mouse gnawing things in the basement.
Then again, my immature niece, who seems
To know nothing, who stares at her phone
Throughout each minute of her waking life,
Is leaving at last.  She's been here a month.
Shouldn't that happy fact be enough to
Overshadow those other things?  Shouldn't
I, for, at least, a few minutes, see something
Good in this day?

I enjoyed reading this so much, Lawrence, but I have to say you should be living in my house! No sooner have I solved one problem than there's another coming along - in fact the other day finally starting a bit of painting I have been procrastinating about, I wondered why the paint was separating along the edge???? Oh, no! He (the previous owner) has used silicon filler and not acrylic! So now I have to strip all that off and start again. It's not going to be easy. Mind you, I don't have a resident neice to worry about.
Blessings, Allen
