MOTHER BY ANN WOOD

Who can love like a mother?
Not to calculate, not to spare,
to be ready to give herself completely,
and to deprive herself of everything.
Who can caress like a mother
and melt the pain with tenderness?
To warm my heart with words only
and to soothe with a look only.
Who can forgive
unintentional mistakes, mortal sins like a mother?
To go through fire if necessary, but to protect her child!
Only now do I understand, dear mother,
Am I now a mother, too,
that there is no such love anywhere else
that it bestows happiness on us, too?
And it is a unique happiness –
To watch your child grow,
choose a path, go somewhere,
but never leave your heart.
You are always waiting, ready to welcome,
ready to caress, to forgive;
You always feel his pain,
you will always dry his tears.
And it always comes back when
it loses love, faith, meaning, path…
While mothers are on earth,
their hearts beat for us.
Congratulations, I love you! 🤍
