I’m so tired of this mad, mad, mad, mad world.

Something Has To Give

Something has to give.
Let’s start with toning down the rhetoric.
Researching the facts before sounding an alert.
Taking a breath before jumping in head first.
Pausing instead of pouncing.

Something has to give.
Let’s consider the principles
of our Constitution
outside the framework of religious biases.
Within the notion of our
shared humanity.
Lifting up instead of tearing down.

Something has to give.
Let’s close our minds to the chaos.
Looking beyond the distractions.
Focusing on what is reality and what is marketing.
Resisting the hate instead of losing our minds.

Something has to give.
Let’s look for the truth.
Stand in the light instead of the shadows.
Build bridges where others build walls.
Choose courage over compliance,
and hope over despair.

Something is giving. Many of us are giving as decency, equity, diversity are being pushed aside. With the forces of intolerance and oppression on the offensive, all others must give.

By the way, don't place too much faith in the Constitution. It may as well be a blank sheet of paper, as what it says is determined by six grotesquely corrupt political hacks in black robes.
