Written on the metro
Your unkempt hair
is meant to tell a story
of where you’ve been
and how you got here
Don’t flatten your flyaways
or lint roll the fur off your pants
or reapply your lipstick
or roll up your socks
or hide chipped nail paint
Not every imperfection
is there to be fixed
Some scars are portals
to stories about
mango trees you fell off of
when you were five
or the reckless Rapido guy
who jumped a signal
or the overbearing parlour lady
who screwed up your left eyebrow
that one time
You are an anthology of these stories
I can’t wait to read.
