CITY OF VARNA BY ANN WOOD

My city...
My sea.
I have been to these places so many times, in all seasons. When I have been sad and when I have been happy, alone with loved ones and friends. But most of all, I have been alone. I loved going there, sitting on the stones and looking at that space where the sky and the sea merge into one line. In the summer, I swam as far from the shore as possible - looking at the flat sea surface in front of me - so smooth, without any waves, a large living organism shiny like a mirror and above it the sky. And nothing else between them. As one whole... And the shine was. magical. Now I have no sea to look at. But I have memorised the memories, the feeling. And I will keep it until the end, wherever I am, because no one can take that away from me!
