Loneliness in Modern Life

In the spirit of ease, the contemporary human being has made so things are within an arms reach. Made so things are just a click away. Want food? Order it through your phone. Want liquor? Order it through your phone. Want pussy? Order it through your phone. But by doing so, by making want and desire a commodity to be clicked and ordered online, the contemporary human spends their life in a constant state of window shopping. Never buying anything because something better might be a scroll away. Why eat this when another this could be tastier? Why drink this when another this could get you drunk better? Why fuck this when another body could satisfy you more? But in quiet moments, almost always in the dead of night, their eyes peel off the screen, they look around their empty room, and realize just how little they really, truly have.

Old and technically challenged I find this other-worldly, and not in a good way. As an aging-boomer I'm grateful for a long history of letters written on paper, meals cooked in our own kitchen, and shenanigans between two loving and consenting people.

At the same time, the contemporary human beings I see in my life, I mean younger people, are largely engaged in work and their world, a lot of it via devices, but still a lot of real time life going on.

Who are these zombies you describe? It's a rhetorical question, but I don't see them, though I don't doubt you at all.
