When friendship,

an intimacy passed between two strangers
like breath,
touches different other
they do not absorb
each other's qualities and conditions
to find agreement and oneness
but though harmonious with all difference,
to have above all
their negative selves cleansed by releasing
change
in each other
for the expansion of their respective
self essence
into who they really are.
