"day is done

gone the sun"

taps

eyes weary from the day's work

yet

i scan the headlines

one last time   why oh why

when

i know better

did i let myself do it

now

dreams tainted by cruelty

wrought by the vile orange man

will

haunt   yet   it was my choice

i

chose poorly

And as one who said, “ No way, no ever freaking way,” I too am haunted. Why didn’t I speak up more, sooner, more loudly? Would it have made a difference?

When they invade your dream world, you know it is time to stop. Having said that, I do understand that it might be so different living in the USA. I imagine it is part of life now, isn't it? Blessings, Allen

Good poem. I think it will resonate with quite a few people. If I even hear that 'thing's' voice on the TV I immediately turn to another channel. My friend won't watch TV News at all because even apart from the 'thing' it is so disturbing to his equilibrium. I'm getting that way too to be honest. :o(
