Winter's Tale BY ANN WOOD
Winter's TaleSofia and her family live in Dallas, Texas, and are very close. Sofia has three children, Martin, seven, Megan, ten, and Marie, four, and is pregnant with twins. Her husband, Nick, is a heart surgeon at the university hospital in the city. Sofia is a pediatrician at the same hospital. When she is at work, the children are looked after by their nanny, Margaret, who is also Sofia and Nick's mother. Margaret has lived with Sofia and Nick's family since Megan was born. The children adore her and love her very much.
It is winter outside and the ground is white with snow. Snow is falling in patches from the sky. The children are happy and playing outside, making snowmen, snow angels, and sometimes fighting with snowballs. Mary is small and cannot play with the other children in the yard. She looks at them through the window and quietly sighs and cries. Mary's mother, Sofia, hugs her and comforts her, don't cry, daughter, now we'll dress you for going out and we'll take you sledding. Sofia dressed Marie in warm winter clothes and put on her ski gear and they took the sled and went out to the park. Marie is four and a year ago she was injured in an accident and can't walk. The park is full of children playing freely and enjoying the snow that has been falling in patches for an hour. Sofia and Margaret are walking with the children. Margaret is pulling the sled with little Marie in it, and Martin and Megan are playing snowball fight.
After an hour of playing in the park, Mary called the children to get ready for go back home. Little Mary had fallen asleep in the stroller, and the snow was getting heavier. When they got home, Mary was still asleep. Marie put her in her crib and then went to make lunch for the family. Her husband gets home from work at two in the afternoon to eat his lunch with his family. Marcus has a boutique furniture shop and every day he go back home for lunch and then goes back to work until about six in the evening.
Little Marie woke up just before her father got home from work for lunch. And they all sat down to eat. Marcus asked them how their morning had been? After they had eaten lunch, Marcus kissed his wife and children and went back to work. After sending her husband away, Mary washed the dishes, put on a children's movie for the children, and she made herself some tea and took her book and sat in front of the fireplace.
Around five in the evening, she started cooking dinner, and made a salad. Marcus came home a little after six, the children were waiting for him at the window like every other evening and waved to him, greeting him.
The evening passed peacefully, dinner, and then games and TV. Around nine, Mary put the children to bed, and they watched a movie. By midnight they were lazing around, and the snow was still falling outside.
The next morning, it was Saturday, and it was still snowing outside. After breakfast, the whole family went out to make a snowman and snow angels. They even had a snowball fight and went to the park to go sledding.
