Free

In America, we are free.

We have the freedom
to drown in medical debt
in order to protect the profits
of the healthcare industry.

Health should never be an industry.

We have the freedom
to choke under the pressure
of a mindset that says
your worth is in your income.

Life should have balance.

We have the freedom
to be chained to college debt
for half a lifetime,
education a luxury pursuit.

No one should be shackled for learning.

We have the freedom
to grow numb to the news
of mass shootings,
135 four months into 2026.

No child should have to practice hiding from death.

We brag of our freedoms
as if we are all equal,
our health care the same as
the insurance executive,
our futures as mapped out as
the children of elites,
our lives safe in the hands of
legislators and gun lobbyists.

The only real freedom
we have is
to work harder,
receive less,
and die believing
we
had
it
all.

It's the billionaires squeezing us all dry. They need to die.

Well said! The two edged sword that is freedom. For every liberty, something has to be taken away. Civilization seems to have forgotten that each thing taken needs to be worth being giving away.

A poem of great merit, for it expresses fundamental truths. Blessings, Allen

The minority, the very few
