A sonnet. This was difficult.

Present Bound - A Sonnet

What destination awaits for us ahead,
When age and family have bound us tight
To past sweet memories? Though time has fled,
We guard our hearts, but will not leave the fight.

As age moves on, we feel the weight of death,
Of passing days, our time is growing near.
The night holds comfort in each shared, soft breath;
We keep moving onward, denying fear.

Yet, bodies do not hold the love we share;
The heart holds tight, each minute ties our bond.
Though blind to what eternal plans prepare,
We face with joy today, and not beyond.

The future holds no fear of love decreased,
For in our hearts we know we have found peace.

A well constructed Shakespearean sonnet. I love the meter and the tight rhyming. You may have struggled but it bore sweet fruit.
