Some may think this was a prayer but I assure you it was a plea to myself (as the title states).  I firmly believe we ourselves have the power, if only we would KNOW it.

PLEA TO MY SELF

I beg of you to give me more time
So variably valued through my life
Given freely at my solitary birth
Disregarded through developing days
Its gold being first clearly recognised
When Mister Rueben Isaac Gee    suddenly
Passed on to pastures fresh and new
Such a clarion trumpet call was that
Thundering through my astonished heart
Stunning the thoughts in my morning head
As my wife told me he was      actually     dead
So fast and fleet his swift departing
I bawled in my uncontrolled reaction
And then in rapid quick succession
Upon the very next morning awoke
Aged at the ninth truiangular number
And sweated cold at the realisation
That One's age is totally immutable
Making time become the precious thing it is.
