BIRTHED AS I IMAGINE SALVATION

To be in love, to feel love, to have known love, to hope for love, one or more of which are needed if the sense of 'being' is going to have/had any real purposeful meaning.  And afterwards, when we return to wherever our spiritual home is perhaps it becomes the very air we breathe?

In the warm night light of love
Where the shadows are bright,
And the excellence of living
Is so brilliantly illuminated,
I bathe in smooth perfection,
And purr as in feline pleasure –
As my being is engulfed in love;
As my love is evangelised
By everything ever imagined.
This is the state of being
Dreamed in inferior notions;
Washed by emotional oceans;
Fulfilled by the word;
Borne by the healing tide;
Fed by breathing totality;
Felt as gossamer wings
Or feather-soft altostratus;
Viewed as atop Parnassus;
Seen by impossibility;
Divine in perpetuity.

There's a genuine warmth and ambition here, especially of the spiritual kind, which come through unexpected, concrete imagery. These I believe are your strongest moments. However, when you lean too heavily on abstractions centering around perfection or impossibility, where you gesture at feeling without grounding it, I think that's when and where the poem weakens.

I'd encourage you to trust your sharp, strange images more. This will make the emotional core hit with far greater force.

So well described and with a wonderful preamble. It is indeed what we all want from this world above all else. But we do not know that until it happens.

This is such a complete poem that it speaks for itself. There's nothing I can say, all is within the poem.

Skillfully penned. One of my favorite songs lately is 'What the World Needs Now (Is Love, Sweet Love).'' Perhaps a simple truism, bit corny, but sometimes truth seems sentimental ad saccharin, but isn't.
