sunday at the park

marketa surprises me

with a beautiful

chocolate chip cookie, fresh

from the bakery

after finishing our shopping

we drive to the park

with cheese and apples

and the bccc

after the cheese and apples

we stroll

saving the treat for later

when later comes

the cookie is not to be found

not a chip, not a crumb

~

in reality, it was no mystery

marketa, distracted

left the cookie on the counter

after she paid

since we drove across town

to the park

a lot of stop lights

we let it go

the disappointment was palpable

we got over it

enjoyed the park

didn't miss the calories

i remember leaving ginger candy

on a store counter not so long ago

I enjoyed this little insight into your Sunday. I would NEVER have left the bccc on the counter - I love them too much! I think I AM displaying signs of age,but I seem to forget names mostly, and seem to be those of my newer acquaintances. Painful to realise -though, and I am bragging here - the other day the pharmacist assumed I was collecting my prescription meds for an older friend. She said, it says age 81 here. I said, yes, that’s right. But you have less crows feet than I have, and I’m only 40!
I felt really good than, for at least half an hour. Until I dropped the TV remote and couldn’t get down to pick it up! 😂😂

A delightful picture of your Sunday at the park. "i remember leaving ginger candy on a store counter not so long ago" And me a bar of dark chocolate only a few weeks ago too. These kinds of things my wife and I put down to age... it is a good excuse. I was looking forward to a square a day. :o(
