TO MY SON BY ANN WOOD
To my sonWhen one day you leave,
From this cruel world,
I will not leave a home for you, son,
But the power of my blessing.
Be a man, this is my bequest to you,
With severity I brought you into a cruel world,
I admit I was not a good mother,
But everything I gave you was with love.
I taught you to be pure and fighting,
That he, life, does not tolerate the weak,
Now you are merciful and noble,
Even when a wound in you bleeds.
Remember that money cannot buy,
Hope, truth, dreams,
When you earn them honestly, dear son,
And your morsel will not be bitter.
When one day you leave, son,
I will leave you my heart,
Embedded in the rhymes with which I love you...
And I will hug you, my love, without hands...
