Body Double
*************In my past...
I've been told
that I resemble
Hollywood stars
and super models...
In fact, I might've been-
"Why" would I
not pursue it?
Because I was shy
and only a little
over five feet five.
In those days,
I lost more...
than just my
baby fat.
Those beauty pagent promoters
pestered my parents persistantly...
until I told them I wasn't interested
and refused to imprison my breasts in a bra,
Fabricate a smile,
Worn with Satin
and manicured claws
Weighed as an object-
Destined to fail
when finality falls
The pedestal's scale
leads to downfall
my brain will never know
Upon my peace out from college
I moved to the coast
and soon was approached
by this pimpy pornographer
who tried to tell me
he could sell me
and we'd both make
a whole lot of money...
But, just like the others,
I assured the photographer
And answered with clout:
No, this gal doesn't sell out.
The world will see me and my heart
As I am-- for me
I am not a superficial clone
Or a stereotypical stone
jilted by what others think.
My every breath inhaled unique
keeps fueling my old brain
with a sparkling renewed soul

I took my original and developed it more with some edits.
Author's Note: An autobiographical based poem and very true... my first nickname for 3 years was "Twiggy". When I turned 13, I looked 21. My other nickname was bright eyes. I've been told I have a
Mona Lisa Smile.
