ABOUT ME

I was born on the anniversary of
Pearl Harbor Day. My "baby" brother who is 8 years younger, and I are the last survivors of my immediate family. I was the primary caregiver for David, my closest brother) and my mother. I was holding David as he died and took his last breath. I am the the oldest with 3 younger brothers and the only daughter of American parents from the Adirondacks of New York. My father lost his father a week before his 10th birthday. His father came from Germany, his grandfather was Austrian. He was #4 of 8 siblings. He was an athlete, president of the art club and his class of 1950. He was a colonel in the air force, and EWO and navigator that flew B-52 bombers and B-58 Hustlers. He knew the stars. My mother was a homemaker gifted in interior decorating, valedictorian of her class, blue eyed, freckled, reddish blond with lots of Irish and French traceable ancestry. She resembled Lucielle Ball from "I Love Lucy". She was a beautiful woman. I was born on Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska, smack dab in the heartland of the United States of America. After my brother was also born there, we began moving all over the country. I love people and have always loved people of all skin color. And Everyone has a story. Some don't like to tell. Poetry helps me personally in that way. It is my welcome release of frustration and stress and yes, fantasy too.
My writing began in middle school. And I will continue in my right to write. "Dear Diary Diarrhea" is just another extension of my writing and is my way of Journaling, reflecting, venting and ranting.
I am now a retired professional art educator with a Batchelor of Science Degree in Art Education, concentration in Ceramics. Due to my skills and job performance, I was recommended and hired to work the 21st Century Afterschool federal grant program and I also did volunteer work by providing non English speaking migrant children free summer camps workshops so they could enter a national art competition for migrants, theme was farming of course. I have taught private pottery lessons and pottery courses at the Art Center and Community College, and have worked for our community's art center offering a variety of art courses.

I believe in the subject of visual arts I once taught for 20 years and with great passion. I excelled and was successful in writing grants and took advantage of any and all donations from our communities and businesses. I took Annual Conference Art workshops and also the regular frequent professional teachers' development workshops to enhance what I taught. I taught local art summer camps. I taught autistic children....migrant children and I taught adults in all kinds of settings.

Two of the top lessons that were my students' favorites' were these:
(1) Altered Books and
(2) Making Kaleidoscopes supplemented with the book "Kaleidoscope Math"( introducting Symmetry).

I support The Arts- music, literature, visual....all of it.
And I taught in an interdisciplinary style, based in real applications from The A+ Curriculum that is designed to integrate other subject areas via art learning (fuses concepts from both areas of learning).

I am in my 8th decade of life and thankful for God's grace on me, allowing me good health and love of friends and family. I am blessed with 45 years of marriage, 2 sons and one daughter, 6 grandchildren and 3 Godchildren. The world may be cruel and unfair, but I won't let that steal my joy of today. God Bless All. I am happy most of the time.
I BELIEVE IN CHRIST. I AM A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST AND A STUDENT OF GOD'S WORD AND ALL SCRIPTURE AND LITERATURE RELATING TO IT.

Clara Mae Gregory
