When I was a child, I asked God to let me live to be 100. A silly child that thought 100 sounded like a long time into the future, keeping death's door as far away from me that my child-mind could conceive.
I am going to clock 100 years unless Christ comes back first.

Scientific evidence shows that consistent aerobic type exercise and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) are the most powerful NATURAL tools for REVERSING age-related brain shrinkage. Studies reveal that 40 minutes of heart-pumping activity, three times a week, can actually increase the size of your HIPPOCAMPUS —the brain's memory center—by about 2%.

Beyond exercise, targeted, science-backed LIFESTYLE changes can promote neuroplasticity, enhance brain volume, and preserve cognitive function:
▪︎High-Intensity Workouts: HIIT dramatically spikes levels of BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor). Think of BDNF as a biological construction crew that rebuilds and repairs damaged neural structures.

▪︎Learn Something Complex: Studies demonstrate that picking up a new, complex skill—such as learning a musical instrument or a new language—creates new neural pathways and builds structural connectivity in brain regions tied to memory.
National Geographic
▪︎Nutrient Optimization: A diet rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and B-Vitamins (which have been shown to slow the rate of brain atrophy) actively supports metabolic health.
Alzheimer's Association
▪︎Quality Sleep: Getting 7 to 9 hours of restorative sleep allows the brain's glymphatic system to clear toxins and metabolic waste that accelerate cognitive decline.
Lone Star Neurology
▪︎Manage Chronic Stress: High cortisol levels damage neurons and shrink the hippocampus. Regular stress-reduction techniques like mindfulness, meditation, and deep breathing prevent this damage.

IQ, Brain Health, Body Health and Effects of Aging
I am recovered from doom and gloom depression where I dreaded waking up each day. I am determined to never allow myself to become that way ever again. I rely on God's Grace and his guidance.....and yeah... If Great Grandmother Roena can do it, so can I. I'm going for it.I am going to clock 100 years unless Christ comes back first.
