Autumn

It is quite unexpected
how most mundane things
hurt you the most
I saw today a wardrobe
full of clothes
that you father,
don't wear
anymore.
I remember the day
When you bought these
and the times
when you had worn them.
I can remember the strength you exuded
the sense of calm that prevailed then
but now it hurts,
that there is only silence
upon your lips.
and your eyes speak of the pain
of being unable
to put forth to the world
the storms that brew inside you
as you slowly wither away.
while,
I try to make sense
of this jarring transition
and grieve silently without notice
for I deep down I know
Autumn has arrived.
Inevitable that now,
that the leaves must fall.
Irrespective of
what we want.
Regardless
of the sorrow it sows.
