Let None but I Write My Epitaph by M.A.Meddings a challenge

On December 3, 1894, Robert Louis Stevenson died at the age of 44. He died of a stroke on the Samoan island, where the natives loved him. The natives carried his body to the peak of Mount Vaea, where they buried him. His poem "Requiem" is inscribed on his gravestone as an epitaph:

"Under the wide and starry sky,

Dig the grave and let me lie.

Glad did I live, and gladly die,

And I laid me down with a will.

This be the verse you grave for me:

"Here he lies where he longed to be.

Home is the sailor, home from the sea,

And the hunter home from the hill."

What an act to follow and I invite you all to write a stanza that might be considered a swansong/epitaph or Give us one that you know from another writer if you like . My own choice is this stanza I wrote to a girl many years ago when I was 20

'I tried to love
Truthfully and
Irrevocably
I tried because
That was all
I knew how to do'
