In 2005 the British Parliament passed a law which outlawed hunting for wild animals with dogs thus effectively killing traditional fox hunting in The Uk. I wrote this poem in 1962. I hope Cuddly fox approves

Death In The Morning by M.A.Meddings

A death
Agony
Blood stained murder
Vision of macabre slaughter
A life lost
Torn from the body
With the sickly tearing of flesh
The pounding hooves
The blood stained teeth
A massacre
A cruel wrenching toture
Vultures behind
The screams of pain
And the last flickering struggles
As the soul departs
The corpse
A still lifeless form
Of burning gold
Blood stained
With the marks of hounds
Lying silent in the morning dew
Then the butcher
Huntsman in his riding habit
Uniform for the dreadful sport
A smell
Of decaying flesh some weeks
Hence past
Aftermath
Of this terrible deed
Of death in the morning

This was again a enlightening piece about the history of the UK. I just didn't realize all the gore that went on. Poor fox. :(
I am glad it is outlawed. Not a pretty sport and not fair for the fox either. How about we let the hunter become the hunted and set a multitude of rabid foxes on his tail. Then we will see how much fun the sport is from the fox's perspective. kathy
