What do we need, what do we really need?

Neccessities

Surrounded, scattered and smothered,
By all we want,
All we need,
It so often creates a haze of confusion,
That it brings forth in what we see everyday,
People that walk around like Batman,
An over-pressed suit and a utility belt,
Equipped with cell phone,
Ipod, MP3 and don't forget,
A Bluetooth earpiece,

I saw it tonight,
Dressed in leather,
With an air-man's earpiece,
Like he just left the hangar,
A poorly dressed clown,
Or is that all that we have become,

No romance without finance,
Fashion don't feed the stomach,
Materials do not equal wealth,
And want should never outweigh need,

I shop on impulse, like everyone else,
I'm not perfect, but I am learning,
And thinking, before you buy,
Do you need?,
Business or pleasure,
Fashion or necessity,
Sense or no-sense,

You can lead a horse to water,
But you can't make 'em drink,
Keep the pleasure out of the business,
And need can never be outplayed by want,

Money and materials are children of greed,
But like all diseases, they can be controlled,
Not cured,
You hate it, but you need it,
To survive, but not to supply or cling to,
What happened to clinging to love?,
Faith, family and friends?,
Profit comes and goes,
Toys come and get boring,
But never faith and love,

What do we want?,
What do we need?,
And when and how?,
Who knows unless you've been there,
But I do know this,
Without faith,
You wouldn't even been thinking about this in the first place,

The dancer moves without a trace,

BlueyedSoul
'lay up your treasures in heaven, where moth and rust cannot corrupt'....
wonderful sentiment for the urban dweller of material goods.
