The Ashes series started today and the English crazy supporters known as the Barmy army are there waiting

Come on Join The Barmy Army by M.A.Meddings

Come on join the barmy army
Were gonna watch the buggers play
Were are all goin to Melbourne
Keep the ashes till another day

And upon the hill at Sydney
Were gonna really have our say
Come on you all English crickters
Come and watch the beauties play

Cos when you belong the barmy army
Plenty of them Sheilas come your way
You can kiss em and you miss em
They will surely entertain your stay

They can call us pommie barstards
Flintoff is gonna have his way
You can bring along Shane Waun
His spinning fingers wil be gawn

So come on join the barmy army
Then you can watch the buggers play
and when the ashes won
You can call me all your son

Cos were gonna keep them bloody ashes anyway

I wasn't aware that the Aussies had a barmy army 'cause at this point in time you couldn't possibly be talking of England winning the ashes.Could you? Admire your patriotism though. Regards Steve

Dear Mike,

I sang along to your patriotically optimistic ditty - well done! I think you ought to send it to Wisdens for publication, especially before the end of today's play.

Cheers, Chris
