THE HUMAN EXISTENCE

The human existence is bound to fail.
Hope is for fools who deny the truth.
Learning of age is a gruesome tale.
You'll find anything but youth.

Newborn babies attract attention.
They cry out loud to fulfil their needs.
We give our energy to the innocent version.
Hopeful but unfavourable deeds.

Then you grow up and learn to cope
when your mother cannot be around.
But you never give up the constant hope
of returning to your old playground.

At thirty and midlife the crisis takes it's hold.
Why am I here and what do I do?
Everybody's young but you're getting old.
A sentence both sad and true.

Aging is merciless, there's no place to hide.
We do our best to pass the time.
And now and then we ache inside.
We cannot forget the time of our prime.

At one point it strikes you, it's out of your hand.
You abandon the strife and go with the flow.
Enjoy your stay in this relaxing land!
Soon you'll be one with sorrow.

Now you're old and about to die.
Your friends have all gone ahead.
You ponder upon and wonder why
you're the last one to be spread!

Learning of age is a gruesome tale.
The human existence is bound to fail.

Theoretically, this is a grim philosophy. To yearn for innocence, not to accept the redemptive qualiities of reflection. To accept experience, yet only see it as an inevitable march towards sorrow.
Poetically, the earlier stanzas have more rhythmical effect than later ones.
