Release

Release me from my love
and let me die with it exulting
in the blind release of reaching out
into the light from the abysmal tunnel
of what's worse than death: the trials
on the way of love through all the agonies
of jealousy, uncertainty, unanswerableness,
suspicion, longing and misgivings,
doubts, exhaustion and humiliation.
But the end is always there,
the reaching of one's home,
the light end of the tunnel,
the supreme release of all your energies,
the height of beauty and of happiness,
the ultimate reward of all your faithfulness,
the final absolution and absorption
of your soul and body into the fulfilment
of the final light that is the definite reward
that must await us all,
if we just loved at all.

It's not a farewell, it's a welcome. There's more to the intricacies of the symbolism of this poem than meets the eye... Thanks anyway for your good heart,

Christian

Zoya Zaidi
Hi Chris,
What a lovely way to end love, so magnanimous and so positive, only retaining good, forgetting the bad and forgiving the bitterness... This is so large-hearted and graceful way to say good-bye!
(((Hugs)))
Love, Zoya
