Vasant Panchami is the festival of Spring celebrating the flowering of Mustard fields, the beginning of harvesting season. Girls dye their scarves yellow, apply Henna on their hands, sing and play on the swings.

Spring, the King of Seasons

I
Earth is getting closer to the sun,
Spring is in the air!
Vasant, the Spring,
Rituraj, the king of all seasons,
Is striding confidently ahead,
Filling the morning air with
The faint fragrance of Mango- blossoms.

Flowers soon will bear fruits,
Fruits will ripen, spread their seeds,
New plants will begin to sprout,
Raise their pretty heads from ground
Daintily sway with the wind
Grow to become majestic trees...

The hoar frost in the early morn
Will be replaced by tender dew,
Dew will evaporate to give way
To warm vapour of sunny spring.

Golden yellow mustard flowers,
Harbingers of graceful spring,
Are beginning to fill the fields
A heady feeling to none akin...

Earth is pregnant with new offspring!!!

II
Birds, who sat warm on their eggs
Protecting from harsh winter winds
Have begun to hatch fledglings.
Mother bird hops about the garden,
Gathering nectar from the flowers
Feeding her young with ardent care.

Soon the birds'll fly off their nests
Begin a fresh new life ahead
Life beckons them in its fold...

Spring, the season of creation,
Rejuvenation, renovation,
Of gathering knowledge at
The feet of the Goddess
Saraswati, of arts and aesthetics,
Is here to enthralls the hearts,
To fill the soul with renewed spirit...

'Spring! Spring! It's time to love!'
To invigorate, to recreate!
'Spring! Spring! It's time to live!'
