This is something I wrote for my partner, as the title suggests. A fish ascends in to a lover in an almost Godly creationist way through the means of Love. Enjoy.

If I am tender now, then I was cold,
although, like a fish, unbothered by it,
gasping and flapping according to habit.
You didn't just pluck me out from the sea, no -
nor leave me to set my small dead eye
skyscraping again, without submission.
That wasn't it. I slept - hoisting myself
to the bottom of the black thunderous surf
that turned to tears in the white hiatus
of winter, aligning each moment to melt
my cheek. I didn't know what to make of it.
You poured me out like a fluid and I set.
I shone and unfolded. I started to bud.
An arm and a leg - an arm, a leg.
From fish to lover, so I ascended.

Love Letter
It's not easy to tell of the change you've made.If I am tender now, then I was cold,
although, like a fish, unbothered by it,
gasping and flapping according to habit.
