The Longest Day by M.A.Meddings

Remember Dieppe
Omaha, Juno, Gold and Sword
And the fallen there
Who gave their lives
For freedom

As a child who has no recollection of whom these people are, your words tell a moral in a story so great. Keep up the writing.

Michael, Thank you so much for your rememberances of those honorable, brave men, some just fresh from childhood, some maybe even grandfathers. Only those who were there can know the hell that unleashed that day. My brother and his wife just returned from a vacation trip to Hawiia and a visit to Pearl Harbor. He said he was shocked at the emotions that overcame him when he looked down upon the Arizona and knew it was the grave to over 600 men. He just burst into uncontrolable tears and could hardley control himself. I'm sure some of the emotions had to do with the fact he served in the Navy and had a particular understanding of how things might have been for those men.

you're right Michael, the sacrifices for freedom and for other noble causes must never be forgotten...and they should be remembered today, as this is a dramatic anniversary, and always, for those sacrifices endowed us with very valuable things...
