What is freedom anyway?

Cow Logic

I yearn for freedom
But would I give it up?
My house
My possessions
My cats
Just to live on the road.

My friends
My family
My lover
Just to have adventures.

No, I think not.

So I pretend to take risks
So I pretend to have money
So I pretend to be sane
So I pretend to make decisions

While my heart yearns
For other people, other places
For relationships
Not bound by convention
Or governed by the almighty dollar

And I become more domestic
Domesticated
Like a farm animal
Who stays in her pen
Only because the fence
Looks so strong.

A nice thing about the new poetbay calendar glitch is that I discover great poems I've missed!
This is certainly one of the greatest and hits close to home at the moment.

I like this a lot. For me it very well expresses the unending ambivalence about having a home & family where one mainly lives.

Some might say its better to have whats in your pocket then a handful of nothing,we all have dreams but how many in there heart of hearts would risk what they already have to achieve them, nice write Anne.
