These Dead Eyes

I dare you look into these dead eyes
They harbour so much more than pure despise

Pardon me if I startled you, but a dead mans eyes don't spark
They shimmer like the carapace of grave-dwelling beetles, ever vigil, ever dark

I dare you caress this animated flesh
Ancient infectious hunger seeks to escape dead mesh

I dare you look into these dead eyes
They are so much more than a shallow disguise
