Nobody's fault

I wrote your name in apples
that had been swept from the tree
it seemed a childish thing to do
but full of dreams for me.

I wonder did they grow
to form an orchard of their own
a sanctuary for all the memories
a place our souls could call home.

I'd like to think they still stand there
apple blossom every year
birds singing from the branches
April showers instead of tears.

But i did understand the picture
the one you clearly painted for me
a message in a bottle
at the bottom of the sea.

I can't help chuckling when I read the last verse - message in a bottle at the bottom of sea - it's pretty clear what the message is. A bit like the dead fish floating, it's one of those imaged scenery for the mind that is impossible to miss the point. Excellent to read although a bit heartwrenching... ;) xx

Don't we all wish the apples we left behind grew into trees of their own? I know I do. Beautifully written, and Very Good Work.
