Poetbay, Poeter.se Crying Shame by M.A.Meddings

Shame on you who
Decided free speech
Was just too much to bear
That criticism wasn't needed here
Simple questions they asked
T
hat deserved a legitimate answer
Questions we all need answering
We at Poetbay, who feel abandoned
By the site we loved
Nep and Aliena asked why
Openly, respectfully and without malice
Yet all they  get is the malice of silence
And the spite of deletion
Shame on you
Who decided free speech
Was a bit too much

Thank you, dear friend!
The silence, the deliberate choice of not giving us any information, is definitely what upsets and disappoints me most in this story. The poetbay people do by no means deserve to be treated with such contempt from the administration!

There might be another side to this problem. Compare poetbay with poeter.se. Poeter.se has about 300,000 poems and about 15,000 poets. It's a flood of poetry in which almost all the poets get lost - you only get to know a few of them, while the vast immensity of the overwhelming crowd remains anonymous strangers to you. Here we are not more than about 10% of that lot, it's like a chamber ensemble compared to a roaring symphony orchestra, and here it's much easier to get friends and to get to know them. It's crowd anonymity versus friendly intimacy. If poeter.se is like a metropolis of unsurveyable structure where individualism drowns in the asphalt jungle, Poetbay is like a village in the country, where we can still be human without getting lost. Just another slant on the situation - the major remaining problem is that we don't know what our editors are thinking, if they are thinking at all.

i stand by you Michael in support of our dear friends. I pray that Poetbay will stay and thrive.

I am asking for a response from Jof or from whomever is now administrating this site. We need to know what to expect in the near future. It is only ethical that you respond promptly to set the record straight.

I'm so sorry to hear that - Aliena and Neps letter deserved so much more, it was respectful and expressed the wishes of so many. A sad thing to happen to this site - I have no answers, except if people pull together here, maybe we can keep this site going.

Free sopech has been fult fore fore centrys , hear in Englnd , peple , men , woman children were buernt at the stake . Fore the crime of reading. And teching others to read. Eavrey wear the right to expres is under aatake. The net is under atake , chnise , irans are put in prison fore useing free spech on the net. Is now poetbay going to do what the gouverments biding? To denie poetbay mebers the right to ask relervant questans , with out ant nastenes is VERY wrong . Is this the thin edge of the wege that will lead to brake up of the bay? I hope not . Am I now risking my self being deleted?
