Caught a glimpse while walking the dog one night

Silent white bellied birds

Silent white bellied birds
Skim across the black glass surface of the lake
leaving thin spectral ripples in their wake.
Back and forth
back and forth
Trailing behind them an unseen gossamer thread
stitching the world back together
at some frayed edge
seen only by their night-wise eyes.

Kathy Lockhart
you are a painter of poetry. I have bookmarked this one for its
beauty and for the way it sends shivers up my spine. : ) kathy
