Rewritten and extended as a song,
darkness seems so, attractive sometimes

Black magnet (song)

Like a magnet in a junkyard
Like a lantern in a cave
Like a stripper in a nightclub
Or a DJ at a rave

We all look for the darkness
When we all are enslaved

The razor on a bedside stand
Black painted lips in a face of white
The black rolled cloth on stocking'd hand
Bright full moon on a starless night

We all look for darkness
When we are full of fright

Like a sunbeam through the attic
Like a smile through the rain
Like a clear note through the static
Or a laugh despite the pain

We all seek a lightness
And dark is put to shame

Light...that symbol of hope.

Like a sunbeam through the Attic
Like a smile through the rain
Like a clear note through the static
Or a laugh despite the pain

This stanza speaks volumes about that never ending spark that many of us have...that gives us the ability to go on...even on our darkest days. I really, really enjoyed this one Joe !!
Hugs,
Dee

I have to dissagree on the whole "darkness, rain (and all that) = negative" (but that's probably just a matter of taste)...

but other than that, this is actually a good song, the rhyming seems natural, as does the flow of words...

social realism (if that's the proper english word) at its finest...
