Have just been through open surgery and feeling sore. This poem is a tribute to the team of young ladies (some not so young) who looked after me with genuine care and humour.

Angels

Welcome to Glasgows 'Golden Jubilee' five star hotel of care.
Treament duly carried out ; whether it be umbilical hernia or tear.

Welcomed by staff helpful, spending time and taking trouble.
Pre-med data compared ; GP records burst my fear 'bubble'.

Nurses efficient, records kept, data checked along the way.
Making sure I didn't lose my left bollock which would ruin my day.

Surgery called gown donned but awful socks and paper knicker,
Streetcred damaged as a leather thong would have been slicker.

Woke up in 'post op', 'do you feel pain?
No I stated dryly...'Cut me again?

So here I am recovering although it hurts a bit,
Remembering that host of Angels..Especially their ability and wit...

Yeah--been through surgery a few times myself. Sorry that you had to go there, but with good nurses it isn't so awfully bad I have found. Of course it depends on the doctor too--mine have all been good, but I did get an infection once that almost killed me. The infection I got in the hospital, but I really got sick after I got home, and I really did think I was going to die. However, I was to sick to go to the hospital that day and had to wait until I felt better two days later. They immediately put me back in the hspital then.

I hope yours went better than that. That is the only time I have had any trouble with any surgery and has been several years ago.

Great piece btw.
