Not Poetically Astute


Sitting here without a theme to write about
For me, a problem particularly acute
This enigma I'm particularly uptight about
Convinced I'm not poetically astute

Not poetically astute is what I'm thinking
It's a downer, enthralling not for me
With this downer, I'll end up bar-room drinking
With my poems all written fuzzily

Inebriation's not this poet's rhyme enhancer
Since rhymes flow only when I'm sober
Soberly I hope to find my rhyming answer
Hopefully now, before I'm any older

It's good that you can laugh at your ideas block! I have found the same thing since my last stroke, ideas are few and far between, I thought that the style really suited the subject matter. I had a giggle at this.

My advice in these circumstances Stan, is put on some music you like to dance to...pick up the beat and give your poems a punctuation treat!lol That should do it.

Currently reading, 'Eats Shoots and Leaves' in the hope of curing my punctuation dis ease.
