waiting for Perseus
have you ever feltlike a complete idiot
there I was
sitting in a
collapsing
self-folding
garden chair
as stable
as an Irish bank
leaning
as far back
as I could
without ending up
at the doctor’s
with neck strain
looking for Perseus
who I believe
was hiding
somewhere
below Cassiopeia
for the best possible reasons
I hasten to add
and me
sitting
waiting
just
waiting
like a banana
in a dentist’s
waiting room
waiting
just waiting
then
with no warning
and
over in seconds
a long
tapoured
dazzling
white light
slashed
the sky
tinged with red
as though
on fire
in the icy
wastes
of space
my God
what a sight
what a wondrous
mystical
stunningly
beautiful sight
over in a fraction of a second
millions of miles away
O what wonder
what awe
