Darkness Within

Deep inside, where we seldom go
there is a side we yearn to know

fear delays curiosity
we're terrified of what we'll see

for there our darkest thoughts reside
those evil deeds we have not tried

yet into those dark depths we dive
and surprisingly, feel alive

but soon we find we've gone too deep
control on things we cannot keep

while begging for a way to stop
deeper into the dark we drop

our realization came to late
to keep us from this awful fate

those deeds we swore we'd never do
we can no longer hide from view

we know, we want to find an end
but we missed our chance to ascend

So the rest of our lives we begin
influenced by the dark within

I like your philosophy,
Its is true, some of the things we despise (mostly in others), we do because we are afraid we might do them. but we end up doing them anyway! In short everyone has a dark side inside.

Although I don't agree with your line of thought, it is nicely put in a rythmical way I like.

The deepest abyss we will ever gaze into is our own soul. The last stanza is true, but the real wisdom is in your choice of "influenced by" rather than "controlled by". The choice is ours.
