Good Old Joe!(Pepiku)

Winter in a Small Village

The blue faces

The leering smiles

The ice-crystals around the unseeing eyes

Cry Out!

This year
there was

No Coal!!!

josephus The PoetBay support member heart!
This searing minimalist poem is intense in its brevity and structure. It leaves the reader with visions of stark hopelessness in a Satlinesque world. Extremely well written.

countryfog The PoetBay support member heart!
The few words, dwindling . . . all the frigid white space between . . . usually I don't pay much attention to form, but this is perfect and necessary, a minimalist sketch drawn with just a few lines, something like Siberia must look.

Frosty! I shiver a little. You capture well the chilly season, and the lack of coal finds resonance in the sparsity of the piece.
A solid write!
