It’s been a while since we had a writing challenge(thank you for the suggestion on our Facebook Group  Liz Munro & for the double reading

New Writing Challenge! Are you up to it?:)

As always, this challenge is open to all members of PoetBay. Feel welcome to contribute,  inspire us while you hone your poetic skills! Please indicate in your posts that your poems are contributions to this challenge by including the following  "Pantoum challenge" or "Current challenge" in your titles.  We will as usual, collect them all and post them together (here) after the challenge ends(13/02)
.

Modern Pantoum Challenge

• Write a modern pantoum

What Is A Modern Pantoum?

Four-line stanzas. Lines 2 & 4 of the first stanza are used as lines 1 & 3 on the second stanza. Usually the paired lines are also rhymed. The last line of a pantoum is often(not always) the same as the first. The lines may be of any length, and the poem can go on for an indefinite number of stanzas.

Hi jim and don't worry most of us had the same emotional reaction when we first started the writing challenges through the editorial team account. Prior to that, we, the members of poetbay started our own spontaneous poetic challenges and we had fun, inspired each other. No this is not a contest:)

Feel also free to write a pantoum together with another poetbay member:) it is totally ok:)

I personally didn't mean to imply there were winners or losers.
I was just using self depreciating humor to joke that I probably would not do well in this endeavor. We are not competing against each other. In fact he writers on this site are supportive.

Hi, I have a question about the challenge. Is it a contest or just something to get the creative juices flowing? If it is a contest with a winner, I'm out. If it's the latter, just for fun, I'm in. Either way, you might want to post a clarification of the purpose of the challenge.

I still think this site is the best. Though small it's full of good-hearted and interesting people. No sniping or intrigue. It's all good.

It would truly take a miracle
I'm paralyzed with fear
to have a chance of winning
I'd have to hire Shakespeare

I'm paralyzed with fear
at this challenging decree
I'd have to hire Shakespeare
It would truly take a miracle

(Just for fun. Is this a Pantoum ?)
